Two floral temporary tattoo designs on white

Botanical · Colour · Flash

The image shows two identical temporary tattoo sheets on a white background, overlapping slightly, each with the same floral bouquet. The bouquet includes a large pink rose-like bloom with a dark centre, a red flower, navy blue leaves, brown berries and seed pods. The filled, flat colour and clean outlines give the design a painted, illustrative look, and the sheets are shown straight on with no body part visible.

The 6.52 was already whistling through the cutting when Maureen Hale noticed the bouquet on the counter had no ribbon. She had tied the last one at six, she was certain of it, and now the paper cone stood bare beside the till, its blooms too lovely to hand over naked. Dennis from the parcels office leaned over the hatch with his cap pushed back, watching her fumble through the drawer of odds and ends.

'Try the lost property,' he said, and she did, because there was nothing else to try. In a biscuit tin under the wicket she found a reel of brown string, a child's pencil case and three hair grips shaped like bees. She wound the string round the stems twice, then tucked in a sprig of rowan and a few rose hips she had gathered off the embankment on Tuesday and forgotten in her apron pocket. The navy-leafed spray leaned out at odd angles, as if it had been caught in a gust. It looked better for it.

A man in a grey overcoat came down the ramp at a run, one hand clamped on his hat, and slapped a banknote on the counter. 'Carlisle,' he said. 'Tonight, by hand of the guard.' Maureen looked at the clock, then at the guard's van, already sliding shut. She wrote the address on a luggage tag in capitals, pushed it through the wire and told him the flowers would travel better if he stopped carrying them like a cricket bat. The tag swung from the string as he ran for the last carriage, and the bouquet, slightly crooked, went with him.
