We're all mad here design with Cheshire cat
Black and grey · Flash
The design shows a grinning Cheshire cat face with large eyes, playing cards, a teapot and a teacup on a saucer, and a striped-stockinged leg. A banner across the centre reads WE'RE ALL MAD HERE, with a steam swirl rising from the cup. It is drawn in clean black outline with no shading or colour, arranged in a vertical composition.

Mind the oven door, it's hotter than the sermon. Right, sit down. You want the one about the tea that never went cold? Good. Nell Okonedo kept the bakery on Tanner Row, and she opened at four, same as her father and his father before him, which is how you know a family has gone soft in the head: they keep getting up for the bread.

Every morning, before the lamps went out across the canal, a grin came through the flour sacks. Nobody saw a cat. There was only the grin, hung in the dark above the proving drawers, with teeth like a row of pale cloves and eyes that came and went like a bad lamp. Nell gave it the heel of yesterday's loaf. It asked her, very politely, whether she thought she was mad. She said everyone on Tanner Row was mad, and the grin said that was rather the point, wasn't it, and it was the only sensible thing anyone had said in the parish all year.
On the Tuesday the cards came up out of the bread bin: the six of hearts, then a queen in stockings striped like a barber's pole, who stepped onto the scales and asked for a pot of tea. Nell poured it into the good cup, the one with the chip under the handle. The steam rose and curled into letters, and the letters said what they always said, only she was reading them for the first time.
By six the sky over the canal had gone the colour of weak tea. The cup was empty, and the grin had gone off to find someone else who would give it a crust. Nell swept the flour into a neat white heap, lit the ovens, and began the day, which was, she decided, a perfectly reasonable place to be mad in.
