Winnie the Pooh with balloon and quote
Fine line · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo shows Winnie the Pooh sitting and holding a large outlined balloon by its string, with a quote written in a handwritten script beside him. The linework is thin and even in black ink, with light shading inside the balloon and on the bear. The text reads 'The things that make me different are the things that make me' and is arranged in a stepped layout around the figure.

Sit yourself down under the Bramley, the one with the split limb, and mind the wasps on the windfalls. You'll want to hear about Tobin, the bear with the mismatched ear. His mother sewed the left one from a green corduroy sleeve because the brown ran out the winter he was stuffed, and every bear in the bramble copse told him so.

He took it badly for a whole summer. He'd sit by the hives with a paw clamped over that ear, as if the bees might steal it. Then came the fair on the far side of the river, and a man selling balloons off a painted bicycle, the strings wound round his wrist like bangles. Tobin had two pennies stitched into his hem, and he spent them on a balloon the colour of a plum.
The man said, "Hold it by the string, not the rubber, and it'll go where you go." So Tobin walked the whole orchard path that afternoon with the balloon bobbing above his head. The pickers stopped with their baskets on their hips to stare, though not at his ear. They stared at the great round thing tugging him along.
When the dusk came he sat in the long grass with the string looped twice round his wrist. The evening wind took the balloon and pulled, and Tobin laughed and let it lift him a finger's width off the ground, just high enough to see the river. "Keep your brown ears," he told the apple trees. "I've got the sky on a string."
