Ankh and Eye of Horus on the back of the neck
Neck · Black and grey · Photo
A small black tattoo sits on the back of the neck, showing an ankh above an Eye of Horus symbol. Both motifs are drawn with clean, even black lines and no shading. The photograph is taken from behind, with hands resting on the head and shoulder, and a blurred green background.

Mags Tennant had been mending nets since the morning the Marigold went out without her husband, and by the second winter she could tell a sound knot from a bad one with her eyes shut. Her grandson Tam came running up the quay one grey afternoon with a tin box he had found in the sea wall. Inside, wrapped in oilcloth, was a small key shaped like a looped cross, and beneath it a coin with an eye stamped on its face, the brow curled like a wave. Nobody in the town could read the markings, but old Anselm, who had sailed as far as Alexandria in his youth, said the eye watched over the living and mended what the sea tore. He said it was whole again only because someone had sewn it back together.
Mags did not believe the sailor's tales, but she took the box home and set it on the windowsill where the light came through. That night the wind swung round to the north-east and drove the fleet back into the bay. Tam stood at the window and counted the lanterns. Every boat came in, all but one. She went down to the quay with the coin in her fist and found the Marigold lying low in the surf, its bow eye scraped to bare wood.
She knelt on the wet stones, took out her needle and her tar, and began to paint the eye back, one curl at a time, until the sea settled and the boat rode steady on the swell.
