AT-AT, stormtrooper and roses flash design
Black and grey · Flash
A pen drawing of a tattoo design featuring an AT-AT walker at the top left, a stormtrooper helmet and torso in the centre, and a rifle across the lower half. The Galactic Empire emblem sits in a sunburst on the upper right, with large roses and leaves framing the figure. The bold, even outlines are uncoloured, and the design is drawn on paper in a sketchbook with the spiral edge visible at the bottom left.

The crate came down the lift at six, three hours late and sweating frost, stamped for ration packs and smelling of something else entirely. Corporal Ilse Varro had the manifest in one hand and a stylus in the other, and she read the line twice before she believed it: forty stems, roses, hydroponic, consigned to Garrison Nine on Tessaly Rock by a clerk who had clearly never once been cold.

Sergeant Oduya wanted them binned before the inspector's shuttle landed. Regulations had no column for flowers, and a rose in a barrack was, in his words, a pressure leak with petals. Varro logged them under ornamental stores, non-regulation, pending disposal, then stood looking at the open lid for longer than the form required. Someone had wrapped each stem in a strip of old signal tape, neatly, the way you would wrap a thing you meant to keep.
Trooper Pell took the first night watch on the north wall and came back at dawn with a single bloom tucked behind his chest plate, where nobody could see it except the walker. The walker knelt at the edge of the ice like a patient grey cathedral and let him stand beneath its belly while it shook the frost off its legs. Pell said nothing about it. Neither did the walker. It was the only piece of equipment on Tessaly Rock that never filed a complaint.
Varro closed the file that afternoon. Under disposal method she typed bin, deleted it, then typed nothing. The inspector never asked about the roses. By the next supply run the garrison had lost two rifles, a sergeant to transfer and a hatch seal, and the only thing left on the shelf was a dented crate with its tape still on, which Pell had painted a shade of green nobody had approved.
