Bazinga lettering on a finger
Lettering · Hand · Black and grey · Photo
The image shows the word Bazinga written in bold black lettering along the side of a finger, with the letters slightly slanted and filled in solid. The ink is crisp and dark against the skin, and the lettering runs the length of the finger. The background is a blurred wooden wall with a dark chair edge, and the finger has dark red nail polish, so the photograph is simple and focused on the tattoo.

Halvard had lost four wagers at the Ostra pass before the snow shut the road, and he meant to win back his cheese from the carter Pell. Pell sat on the tollhouse step cleaning a clay pipe, grinning like a man who had already spent the money. The wind rattled the shutters, and the goat tethered outside bleated at nothing in particular.

"Cards," Pell said. "Three hands, and you owe me the goat as well."
Halvard shuffled slowly, taking his time, the way the old toll-clerk had taught him. On the third hand he laid down a jack and kept a king pressed under his thumb all afternoon. Pell leaned in to read the table, and Halvard said, quietly, "Bazinga," the way you say a thing that is true enough to sting. Pell scowled and turned the cards over one by one. Nothing was there but the jack and a fistful of wet straw.
"You said that to the fool at the back of the room," Pell muttered, glancing over his shoulder into the empty tollhouse. "There's nobody at the back of the room."
"There's always somebody," Halvard said, and nodded at the shutter. Through the crack, a small face was watching them, one hand holding the goat's rope and the other clapped over its mouth to keep from laughing. The goat, it turned out, had been spoken for all along.
