Then the bell over the door went at ten to five, on the Thursday before the shop closed for winter, and a man in a wet anorak asked for it by its old name.

'Nobody calls it that,' she said. 'It's Harbour Blue on the card.' He wanted enough for a heart, he said, and a hook to go with it, and he would not say who the heart was for.
