Botanical flower bouquets across the chest
Botanical · Chest · Colour · Photo
Five separate floral clusters are spread across the upper chest: red poppies, a sprig of lilac, a red lily-like bloom, a bouquet of white flowers with a ribbon, and blue forget-me-nots with white blossoms. The linework is fine and the petals are shaded with soft gradients, giving a painted botanical look. The palette is rich and mostly warm reds and pinks balanced by blues and whites against pale skin, and the arrangement sits in a loose scatter around the collarbone.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The lanes were bare by the third week of September, and Ruth still had not picked a single stem for her wedding. Her grandmother Mab, who had grown up in the valley and believed in rules about such things, said a bride must gather her own flowers or the marriage would wilt by Lady Day.

So Ruth set out at first light with a basket and a length of blue linen. On the wall above the orchard, where no one had sown anything, poppies had seeded themselves, red as a thumb after a hammer blow. Below the mill the lilac hung heavy over the millrace, and the miller's wife, who had never once smiled at Ruth, gave her a sprig for nothing and said only that she should not tell her husband. At the ford the forget-me-nots grew thick under the willows, and a red lily stood up out of the reeds like a candle nobody had lit. The daisies she cut last, in the churchyard, between the graves, with the sexton's permission and a nod to the names.
She tied each cluster with the linen, five bunches in all, and carried them up the hill as the bells started. At the lych gate Mab was waiting on her stick, and she looked at the bouquets for a long time without speaking. Then she unwrapped the forget-me-nots, shook off the dew, and pinned them to the front of Ruth's dress, over the heart, where they held as if they had always grown there.
"There," Mab said. "Now you've taken something from every place you'll have to answer for."
