Cat and flowers on a lower leg
Other · Mixed · Photo
A cat's face and upper body peek out from a loose arrangement of orange-red flowers, leaves and branches. The cat is drawn with fine, sketched linework and soft black shading, with amber eyes left as warm tones. Watercolour-like washes of red, orange and green fade out at the edges, and the composition wraps around the leg with a trailing tail line at the bottom.

The gulls won't go near. I sketched her on the back of the tide tables, and the sketch looked more like her than any photograph ever has.
Come at Easter if the boat runs. I'll keep the kettle on and the rowan on the sill, and you can tell me whether the cat belongs to the lighthouse or the lighthouse belongs to her. Yours, Nell.
