Dandelion seeds with watercolour splashes on upper back
Back · Mixed · Photo
The tattoo shows a dandelion seed head with stem, drawn in black linework and soft grey shading, with loose seeds drifting off to the right. Teal and purple watercolour-style washes sit behind and around the seed head and seeds. The design is centred on the upper back, with the skin's natural texture and freckles visible around it.

"Don't you dare," said Dilys, not looking up from the scales. "Not over the dough." Nell blew anyway, softly. The seeds lifted in a loose fan, caught the glow from the oven door, and drifted over the rye and the sourdough, settling on the blue-glazed tins where someone had painted the violet and teal icing for the spring buns. Dilys sighed, then didn't brush them off.
Her gran had a rule: every seed that lands on a loaf is a wish baked in for whoever eats it. Nell didn't believe it, but she counted anyway. Seven on the rye, three on the teacake trays, one stuck to the inside of the glass where the cold had fogged it.
At quarter past five the van horn sounded in the lane and the back door banged open. The cold came in with the first delivery, and the seeds lifted from the bread all at once and went out into the grey yard, as though they had somewhere to be.
