Fantasy castle and warrior full sleeve
Realism · Shoulder · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo covers the whole arm with a fantasy scene. A castle and skulls sit near the shoulder, a hooded figure and a female elf warrior in armour appear mid-arm, and a clawed creature and further figure continue towards the wrist. The shading is smooth and detailed, with strong highlights and deep blacks, and the four photographs show the sleeve from different angles.

The lift in Crowe House had been broken since March, so Dessa and I took the stairs every Thursday with the shopping hooked over our wrists. Nineteen floors. By the sixth we had stopped talking, and by the twelfth the stairwell had started to sound like the inside of a bell.

Old Mr Pryce on the fourteenth floor said the block was the last keep of a kingdom that had forgotten it was at war. He kept a bow behind his door, made from a broom handle and a bungee cord, and every night he set the bin lids out along the balcony like shields. Dessa thought he was mad. I thought he was the only one who had noticed the council had stopped sending anyone to fix the walls.
In September the letter came. Nineteen flats to be cleared for the new development, a date printed in blue. Dessa read it on the stairs and folded it into a paper crown, which she wore all the way up to the roof. The wind up there tore at the washing lines. Below us the estate spread out like a map of somebody else's country, all car parks and sodium lamps.
We stood at the parapet and Dessa said we should go down and sign whatever they wanted. I said no. Mr Pryce came up behind us, slow on the last flight, and handed each of us a bin lid painted black with a skull on it. Then he pointed across the river at the crane. Its arm was lifting something very large and very slowly, and it did not look like a machine at all. Dessa laughed until she cried, and I did not tell her I had seen its claws.
