Geronimo script with a bow on the upper chest
Lettering · Chest · Black and grey · Photo
A close photograph of a small black script tattoo reading Geronimo, with a small bow motif beneath the word. The lettering uses fine, thin lines with light shading, and the tattoo sits on pale skin against a dark top. The composition is cropped below the chin, with a hand and ring at the right and a blue printed garment at the bottom.

Dear Ray,

The reunion hall smelled of floor polish and somebody's sherry, and I nearly turned round at the door. Then I saw the trophy case still had the 1987 hockey team in it, and there was Dennis Carr grinning at me from the back row, and I thought, go on then.
Dennis was Geronimo to the whole year, ever since he hurled himself off the top board at the baths with a tea towel knotted round his neck for a cape. He never once did it properly. He always landed on his backside and laughed like a drain. The bow tie came later, the summer before our leavers' do, when he bought one from the Co-op and wore it to every lesson just to annoy Mr Pryce.
Anyway, he asked after you. Said you still owe him a fiver from the raffle. I told him you'd send it when the Tories got out of Downing Street, which got a proper laugh from the bloke who runs the chippy now.
I didn't tell him I'd kept the programme from our old school play, the one where he was the Sheriff of Nottingham and got a standing ovation for falling off the wall. It's in the drawer by my bed with your swimming badge. Come home for Easter and I'll show you both.
Love, Pat
