Handwritten quote and TARDIS on the side
Fine line · Ribs · Colour · Photo
A two-line handwritten script quote sits on the skin, with a small solid police box icon to the right of the text. The linework is thin and even, with the lettering in a slightly uneven, hand-drawn style. The ink is a single dark blue tone, and the tattoo is set against plain skin with soft natural light falling across the body.

Nurse Hettie Crane had worked the nights on Lennox Ward for nineteen winters, and she knew the building better than the architects who drew it. On the third night of the hard frost, a blue box appeared in the alcove beside the linen store, square as a wardrobe, with a lamp on its roof that nobody had fixed in years.

A young porter, Tom Ashdown, went to shift it and found the door unlocked. Inside was a room bigger than the ward, with brass rails, a humming column and an old man in a cardigan tapping a panel with a screwdriver. He asked whether anyone on the ward was frightened of endings. Hettie said everyone was, and the man said that was the trouble: they kept expecting the last page to be the whole book.
He went room to room with them. In bed seven lay Mrs Parr, who had been telling the same long story about a goose and a vicar for a week, and who had never once reached the end of it. The old man sat on the edge of her bed and said, "We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?" She laughed until the monitor chirped, and then she told him the goose had finally got its revenge.
At dawn the box was gone, leaving only a patch of frost on the floor in the shape of a door. Mrs Parr's chart recorded a quiet night and a cup of tea drunk to the bottom. Hettie found a scrap of paper on the trolley, where the old man had written the goose's ending in a hand that wobbled like a boat, and she pinned it above the sink where the night staff could read it.
