Interlocking loop knot on inner wrist
Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A single fine line tattoo sits on the inner forearm near the wrist. It shows a triangular knot of interlocking curved loops, with three teardrop shapes stacked along the top point. The linework is even and single weight, in black ink only, and the design sits centred on the arm against a striped top and plain wall.

Their mother had bound their wrists with red cord the morning of the hiring fair, one loop each, and tied the three free ends into a knot she swore no one could undo but the one who had tied it. Their nan called it nonsense. Still, the cords had stayed on through two harvests, a flood, and the winter the beck froze to the bottom.
At midnight a stranger came in from the moor road, water dripping off his hat brim. He asked for Ada, the youngest, by name, and Tam's bow stopped mid-stroke. The stranger opened his palm. A single red cord lay there, frayed at both ends, with a bead of candle wax clinging to it like a drop of rain. Ada looked down at her own wrist. It was bare.
She did not cry out. She took the loose cord from his hand, looped it over two fingers, and walked to the door. The other sisters followed because nobody had told them to stay. Outside the rain had stopped and the moor lay silver to its edge. Behind them Tam started up again, slow, and the three of them went down the step together, the knot between their wrists pulling tight as a drawn thread.
