Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
A single word, Lumos, is written in flowing black script on a plain white background. The letters have smooth, even linework with a looped capital L and tapered strokes that finish in curled tails. The image is centred with generous white space around the word and uses no shading or colour.

Father laughed and said the gas company would have something to say about spells. He lifted me down and we walked the rounds in the thin rain, the lamps catching one after another along the cobbles behind us like people being introduced at a dinner. He let me carry the pole with the brass hook. I asked each lamp to light, and each one obliged, though Mr Hebden would have said the credit belonged to the gas.
At the bottom of the hill the lamp by the chapel gate was the last. Tom had taken the late train from Leeds and was not on the usual road, and Mother had stood at the door twice already with her shawl held shut at the throat. Father stopped under the lamp and looked down the dark road, then at me. Go on, he said. So I said the word once more, and far off, where the road bent past the mill, a second light answered, a lantern swinging in a hand.
Tom's boots came up the cobbles with the lantern bobbing at his knee, and Mother's shawl was already off her shoulders before the gate opened. I kept the dead taper in my pocket for the rest of the night, cold and unburnt, because I had found out that I did not need it.
