Metallic flash sheet with hamsa and dreamcatcher
Geometric · Mixed · Flash
A white flash sheet showing a set of metallic gold and silver temporary tattoo designs on a plain background. The designs include a hamsa hand with fine detailed linework, a dreamcatcher with feathers and beads, crossed arrows, chevron bands, a sun-like star and a vertical border of diamond shapes. The designs are arranged in a neat grid with black chevrons and foil-effect shapes alongside the metallic pieces.

One winter the sun went thin and stayed behind the hills for nine days. A young man from the mill came to her in the dark, his arrows snapped, his brother lost in the frost somewhere past the stone wall. She did not ask why he had gone looking. She took a hoop of ash from the hook, wound it with sinew, and strung a web across it the way her mother had taught her, a knot at every crossing. She hung a grey goose feather from the bottom and three gold beads on a thread, like the rungs of a ladder.
The mill boy went out at dawn with the hoop tied to his wrist. He came back at dusk with his brother walking behind him, both of them stiff with cold and laughing like fools. The web had caught every bad dream the frost had planted, the old woman said, and let the good ones drift through the holes. Mind you, she added, poking the fire, she never told him which was which.
