Metallic gold and silver temporary tattoos
Hand · Colour · Photo
A close crop of a woman's neck, chest, hand and wrist, with metallic gold and silver temporary tattoos of layered chains, disc motifs and oval pendants. The designs are flat metallic foil with fine dotted and textured detailing, and they sit against warm skin with a cream crocheted top and long hair in the background. Gold tones dominate, with silver accents on the chest pendants and bracelet.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The smith Oren had hammered the same gold for thirty winters, and every spring the village brought him their broken jewellery to mend. That year a widow came with two silver discs threaded on a cord, worn thin where a child had bitten them. She wanted a chain for her daughter's wedding, but she had only enough silver for one pendant and a handful of small coins.

Oren did not refuse her. He beat the discs flat and cut them into a hundred pieces no larger than a fingernail. He strung them in three lines, each shorter than the last, and hung from the middle a pale oval stone he had polished until it held the light. When the widow asked the price, he said the cost was in the shaping, and that she could pay him when the chain had done its work.
The daughter left for the coast that summer. Nobody heard from her for two years. Then a boatman came up the river with a letter written on bark and a small bronze disc pressed inside the fold. The letter said that every woman who wore the chain had added one disc of her own before giving it on, and that the chain now reached the floor of the boat.
Oren read it twice, then set the bronze disc beside his anvil. He took his tools down from the wall, lit the forge, and began to make the next link.
