Nightmare Before Christmas full sleeve
Neo-trad · Upper arm · Colour · Photo
A full colour sleeve tattoo shown from three angles against a dark background, covering the upper arm and forearm. It includes Jack Skellington, Sally, jack-o'-lanterns, ghostly figures, a skeleton, dice, a swirled lollipop and a night sky with stars and a moon. The shading is smooth and blended, with bright ink on the lighter areas and deep purples and blacks in the sky.

The moon had to be lifted down again on the third night of October, and nobody in Gallows Hollow wanted to hold the ladder. Abel Thorne held it anyway, because his mother had owed the ghosts a debt and he had inherited the debt along with her boots and her habit of counting things twice.

The ghosts lived in the cellar of the old chapel on Spiral Hill, where the lane wound up in loops like a peppermint stick. They played dice on a lid of cracked slate. Every year they asked for a stake, and every year the town paid it: a candle, a length of rope, a child's laugh kept in a jar. This year the bell-ringer's wife had nothing left to give but the moon, and the ghosts, who were never in a hurry, said they would take it in a game of chance.
Abel rolled first. Six, six, and a pip that skittered off the slate and never came back. The ghosts laughed in their thin, drifting way and offered him a swirled lollipop as a consolation, the kind every child in town has tasted once and nobody forgets. He did not eat it. He rolled again and threw the stars in with the dice, pale and rattling, and the moon slid down the ladder into his arms as cool as a bowl of milk.
He carried it home under his coat and hung it back where it belonged. The next morning the pumpkins on every doorstep grinned a little wider, which was the town's way of saying thank you. The lollipop is still in the drawer of his kitchen, unwrapped, and it has never once gone sticky.
