Peace sign of wildflowers with script on a forearm
Lettering · Forearm · Colour · Photo
The tattoo shows a peace symbol formed from green stems and small flowers in yellow, purple, blue, red, orange and pink, with a larger yellow flower at the centre. Black script wraps around the design, reading You belong among the wildflowers, and the lines are clean and even. The colour is bright against the skin, and the design fills the upper inner forearm with the text framing it.

Mags had been sent up to Hollin Keep with a crate of hand tools and a letter from the council, and the letter said the place was not safe. She found the gatehouse roofless, the bailey knee-deep in seed heads, and a warden's cottage where somebody had left the kettle full. Nobody had been there in six years. The wind came through the arrow slits and smelled of cut hay.

She spent the first week clearing rubble from the chapel steps and was ready to hate the weeds. They were stubborn: campion, knapweed, vetch, poppies splitting the mortar. Then one morning she climbed the old well tower to fix the rope and looked down at the ground from above. The beds had settled into a pattern. Three rings of stone, spokes of green, and a great round flower of yellow at the middle, all of it laid out so plainly that she laughed out loud and startled a jackdaw off the parapet.
The man in the village shop, when she walked down for bread, said the old lord's daughter had planted it before the fire, and that the castle had only ever been called a fortress because nobody had thought to ask the flowers. He wrote a line on the back of a receipt for her, the way he might jot down a recipe: you belong among the wildflowers. Mags folded it into her pocket and said nothing.
That evening she sat on the chapel step with her pencil and the ledger from the council, and on the first clean page she drew the peace sign the way the seeds had drawn it, one stem at a time, until the light went and the jackdaws settled in the ivy.
