Quote tattoo on a forearm
Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
The photograph shows a forearm with a handwritten-style quote in black script lettering across several lines. The letters use fine, even linework with no shading, set against a plain skin tone and a tiled wall in the background. The text fills most of the frame and is centred on the forearm, with clear, legible strokes throughout.

You walk the last hundred yards with the torch clamped in your teeth, boots skating on the old flagstones. Inside, the stove has gone cold, and she is on the bench with her knitting in her lap, not moving much. "Power's gone at the mast," she says. "I've been sat here since four telling myself the dark's only the dark."
You find the paraffin lamp under the sink, the one with the cracked chimney, and a tin of matches with a robin on the lid. Your hands shake and the first match dies. The second catches. The yellow light climbs the whitewashed walls and finds the faded map of the pass, the names of becks you have crossed a thousand times.
She laughs, a short surprised sound. "There you are," she says, as if you were the one who had been lost. Outside the cloud keeps coming, but the hut is bright enough to be seen from the road below, and when the van's headlamps finally swing up the bend, they find the window before you do.
