Realistic eye tattoo on an arm
Realism · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A large, detailed eye fills the centre of the frame, with fine lashes, a shaded lid and a highly reflective iris drawn in soft greys and deep blacks. A partial figure, possibly a statue, and a cross appear along the lower left and lower right edges of the arm. The shading is smooth and the composition is close and angled across the limb.

Mind the step, love, it's older than your grandmother and twice as cross. Sit where the lamp catches you. There. Now, you asked about the eye, so you'll have the whole of it or none.

Pell's Marvels wintered on the edge of Doncaster the year the big top went grey. Old Silas Pell had a ringmaster called Morrow who'd lost his left eye to a firework in 1952, and he would not wear a patch, because he said a patch was an admission. So a clockmaker in Barnsley ground him a glass eye, the iris painted in the finest greys, black at the centre, with a little brass wheel behind it, so that when the lamps swung the light went round and round inside him like a second sun.
It frightened the children. They swore it followed them. Morrow stood beside the marble woman at the gate, the one with the broken cup, and every night he tipped his hat to the crowd through that eye, and the crowd tipped theirs back, and the company lived on the strength of it. When the takings fell, Morrow sold the marble woman to the council for a school hall, and he kept his eye, because a man has to keep something.
On the last night of the season, the tent half empty, he took the eye out at the interval and set it on the sawdust. Nobody saw what it saw. In the morning the caravans were gone and so was the eye, and a pawnbroker on Cheapside has had it in his window ever since, turning slowly, watching the road.
