Realistic lips and rose on a forearm

Realism · Forearm · Mixed · Photo

A close view of a forearm tattoo showing a shaded nose and glossy red lips, with a red rose with leaves across the upper right. The face is rendered in fine grey shading with smooth blending, while the lips and rose use vivid red ink with strong highlights. Thin, pale branch or thorn linework runs along the lower part of the arm, and a plain white top and dark trousers frame the image.

Mr Pryce, the groundsman, had taken it on his phone and printed it at the library. The roots were bundled in hessian on the back of a van, the last of the red blooms still clinging to a cane.

She pressed a single dried petal into my palm before she left, brown at the edges but still holding its shape. "Mind the thorns," she said. "They never did come out of the hands."
