Script quote design: Give Me Strength
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
The image shows a quote set in flowing cursive script in black on a plain white background, with the words Give Me Strength, when I'm Standing, and Faith when I Fall arranged over several lines. The linework is solid and uneven in weight, with a slightly distressed texture on some strokes and large looping capitals on Strength and Faith. It is a single-colour design with no shading or body context.

Dear Nell, the Bramley tree by the wall came down in Tuesday's wind, and Dad stood in the wet grass for a full minute before he said a word. Don't fret, nobody was under it. I've spent the week propping the limbs that held, wedging forked branches with pallets and old fence posts, and I keep thinking of what Granny scratched on the back of the orchard map the year she planted these rows: give me strength when I'm standing. She meant the trees, I think, though she was never one to say so outright.

The early pickers have gone and the windfalls are going to wasps. Mrs Ferris from the lane came up with a basket and took what she could carry, and she told me the old men used to say you could tell a good year by how the ladders leaned. I asked her what a bad year looked like. She said you stop asking the ground for anything and just keep the roots watered. I laughed, but I wrote it on the back of my hand so I wouldn't lose it.
Last night the ladder slipped on the wet stones and I was on the grass before I knew I'd fallen, apples rolling round my boots like marbles. I lay there counting the gaps in the leaves until the cold got into my collar. Faith when I fall, Nell. It isn't pretty and it isn't clever. It's just getting up and reaching for the next limb.
Come home for the harvest if you can. Bring your gloves and the good secateurs, and tell Tom the pear grafts took. Your loving sister, June.
