Script quote on the inner wrist
Lettering · Other · Black and grey · Photo
A three-line handwritten script quote, Never let your fear decide your fate, sits across the inner wrist on pale skin. The lettering uses smooth, even black linework with a brush-like rhythm and no shading. The black and white photo is framed against a dark leather surface, with the text centred and clearly legible.

The herald had already read the decree twice in the square of Harrowmere when you reached the bottom of the bridge, and the wax on the scroll was still soft enough to take a thumbprint. Nobody in the town could say why the old Margrave had chosen a fishmonger's daughter to carry his final letter to the coast. Perhaps it was because you were the only one who had not bowed when the bells rang for his death.

The letter was short. It was written in a looping hand that wavered on the descenders, and it said only that the lighthouse at Scarrow Point had gone dark, that its keeper was dead, and that someone must light the lamp before the autumn gales arrived. Beneath the seal, in smaller ink, the Margrave had added a line you were not meant to read. You read it anyway, on the road.
Never let your fear decide your fate.
You walked the cliffs for three days with the scroll inside your coat. On the fourth morning the lamp-room door stood open, the glass cracked, and the oil tins rusted to lace. You knelt on the cold boards and began to scrape, and somewhere between the second tin and the third you stopped thinking about the gales and started thinking about the sea below, grey and patient, and how small a boat would look from up here.
At dusk the light caught. It swept the water once, then twice, and far out in the dark a single lantern answered from a fishing boat that had been lost for a month. You climbed down with blistered palms, carrying nothing but the letter, which you folded and kept. Some nights the old words feel like the Margrave's hand on your shoulder, and some nights they feel like your own.
