TARDIS within a black tribal swirl on upper arm
Blackwork · Upper arm · Mixed · Photo
A bold black tattoo on the outer upper arm and shoulder shows a small blue police box, the TARDIS, set in the centre of a large swirling shape with dragon-like wings and a clawed form beneath it. The linework is thick and solid, with stippled dots scattered around the swirl, and the black ink dominates with only the blue box providing colour. The shot is taken at a slight angle from the side, with the arm filling most of the frame and a computer monitor visible in the background.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
The bride's mother had counted the chairs three times when the blue box came wheezing down the lane behind the mill, and the dogs went quiet the way they did before thunder. Nobody had ordered a box. The vicar said it was a police box, though Thornbeck had had no constable since the year of the long rain, when he went off to sea and never sent word back.

The groom, Edwin Carrow, went out to meet it with his good hat in his hand. A tall man in a coat too long for him leaned from the door and asked, very politely, whether this was the wedding with the swirl of weather above the roof. Edwin said it was a wedding and a poor one, as the cider had turned. The stranger laughed and said that was how the good ones started.
Above the orchard the sky began to fold. Dark wings unrolled out of the clouds, and a clawed thing hung beneath them, drawing its talons through the air like a woman combing wool. The dragon circled the box twice, shaking a spatter of ink-dark rain onto the bunting. Then the box hummed, the stranger raised his hat, and both were gone, leaving the bride's veil snagged on the gatepost and small black dots drying on the tablecloths.
Each spring after, bluebells came up in rings across the orchard grass where the rain had fallen. The Carrows kept the veil tied to the gatepost, grey now, and they said the dragon came back to any wedding where the cider had turned, since that was how the good ones began.
