Two small daisies on an upper arm
Fine line · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo shows two daisy-like flowers on a single thin stem with a small leaf, drawn in clean black linework. The flowers have simple radiating petals and the stem is fine and delicate. The design is small and sits on a pale upper arm against a dark, blurred indoor background.

The snow has finally left the top of Scarth Pass, and this morning the first daisies came up along the verge below the tea hut, two of them on one stalk with a single leaf, as if they had agreed it between them. I have pressed one into this letter. Be careful unfolding it, the paper is thin from the damp and the petals have opinions about being moved.
Father always said a daisy on its own was a sad thing up here, because the wind would have it flat before the week was out. They grow in pairs for shelter, he said, one bent to the weather while the other keeps its face to the sun. I thought it was a fairy tale until the winter you left, when I sat in the hut with the kettle and watched the two of them lean together against the north gusts, and understood he had meant something about us.
The drovers still stop for tea. Mrs Abbott from the Gill farm asked after you yesterday and bought three buns to take home for a sick ewe, she said, which I think is a lie, but a kind one. Everyone asks, and I say you are doing well in Whitby, which I suppose is true of somebody.
Come over when the cart road dries. Walk the last half mile on foot so you can see the verge before anyone tells you about it. Bring your own cup. Your sister, Ada.
