UV-reactive dreamcatcher on upper arm
Geometric · Shoulder · Colour · Photo
A dreamcatcher hoop with a flower of life pattern at its centre sits at the top of the design, with feathers and beads hanging below and a swirling ornamental shape alongside. The tattoo is photographed under ultraviolet light, so the ink glows pale white and blue against dark skin, and the linework is fine and even. The design is shown in a single glowing tone with a dark background, and the composition is tightly framed on the shoulder and upper arm.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
Edith Vane had been told the lamps on Harrow Brow would hold until March, so she did not bother with candles the night the snow closed the pass. She went up to the attic instead with a tin of luminous paint bought off a travelling chemist, and a hoop of willow her father had steamed into a ring the summer before he died.

She painted the ring in a careful spiral, the way he had taught her to lay a fine line on the stone rim of a well. Inside the hoop she drew a seven-petalled flower, each circle touching the next, then hung three grey goose feathers and a string of jet beads from the bottom of it. The feathers were the hard part. They wanted to curl and the paint wanted to run, and twice she sat with her head in her hands until the cold gave her back her patience.
When the lamp was blown out at the foot of the stairs, the ring woke. It shone the pale blue of skimmed milk, and the beads ticked against one another whenever the draught came under the door. Down in the taproom, the carrier who had been sleeping on the settle sat up, looked at the ceiling, and asked who had lit a moon up there.
Edith said nobody had. She had only been careful. By morning the snow had stopped, the pass was open, and the carrier paid for his bed and his breakfast and went off down the valley with his cart creaking behind him. The ring hung on its nail until spring, and nobody in the valley ever asked her to take it down.
