Winged fairy with wanderer quote flash
Neo-trad · Colour · Flash
A stylised fairy with blonde hair, a flower in her hair and translucent wings sits within an oval rope frame. Two curled banners carry the words Those who wander are not always lost, with orange flowers and leaves around the edge. The bold outlines, soft shading and warm sepia background give it a neo-traditional look, with green and orange tones on the figure and banners.

In the back seat, Grandmother Hollis snored over a flask of tea gone cold. She had insisted on coming, and she had insisted on the dog too, which had been sick twice since the last town. Wander, the old woman had told her at the kitchen table, is not the same as losing yourself. Pip had thought that a comfort at the time. Now she wasn't sure, with the petrol needle sinking and the sky the colour of a peeled peach.
Near dusk they reached a crossroads where a hand-painted board was nailed to a cactus: LOST? TURN LEFT. Pip laughed until the old woman woke and demanded to know what was funny. They turned left. The road bent around a salt flat that held the sunset like a dish of spilt paint, and at its edge a line of lanterns hung between iron posts, each one lighting a small door set into the dust.
Hollis climbed out stiff-legged, studied the lanterns and nodded as if she had expected them all along. Told you, she said. Pip did not ask who had told her what. She only pressed her thumb to the compass on her arm and found, to her surprise, that the needle had finally stopped spinning.
