Adventure Time sleeve on forearm and hand

Forearm · Colour · Photo

A colour tattoo sleeve covers a forearm and the back of the hand, showing Finn and Jake against a blue sky with a green treehouse, the Ice King with a crown, BMO and the penguin Gunter. Small Candy People sit across the fingers and palm, and the image shows the sleeve from four angles. The rendering uses bold outlines with flat, saturated fills in blue, green, orange and purple.

Sit closer, the lot of you, and keep your hands out of the stew, because this is the tale of the year the hill-folk stopped paying rent to the sky. Four hundred years after the Great Wilt, the treehouse on the green hill still stood, crooked as a drunkard's hat, and in it lived a boy in a white cap and a dog who could stretch his legs out like a tent pole.

One grey morning the frost king came down from the north in a crown of ice, shouting that he had been robbed of his candy queen, and he had taken the little box-robot along for company. The box had a green screen for a face and a small smile, and it had carried the boy's bread up the hill for years. Nobody thought to ask the box what it wanted. The candy folk did, though. They came out of the hedgerows in their hundreds, pink and yellow and lime, and they climbed onto the boy's fingers one by one, and the frost king's shouting dropped to a squeak.

The boy did not fight him. He sat on the stump of his old tree, cap pushed back, and asked the frost king what a penguin would make of all this. The penguin, who had followed the king everywhere like a lost coat, waddled out from behind the ice throne and looked up with black eyes. Nobody had asked the penguin anything in a century. It said it wanted to go home to the south, and wanted the box to come too, and the frost king had to sit down on the frozen stump and think about it for a very long time.

So they went. The treehouse is still there, though the green has gone grey and the stump is only a warm patch of moss. If you climb up at dusk you will find the box-robot's little light blinking on the windowsill, waiting for someone to bring bread. Mind your fingers on the ladder. The candy folk are sweet, but they bite when they are woken.
