Dearest Odile, the poster went up on the wall of the Dunmore Picture Palace this morning, and I stood in the street for a full minute before I could make myself go in. They have printed her in the style you always loved, the swirling hair, the flowers pinned at her temple, that long grave profile turned away from the viewer as if someone had just said something unforgivable across the room. The bill says she is the Lady of the Lantern, though the man who engaged me swears he never named her at all.

Mr Pell asked where I had got such a thing and I told him a sister.
