Belle and a castle in stained glass frames on thighs
Neo-trad · Thigh · Colour · Photo
Two thigh tattoos sit side by side in ornate oval frames. The left shows a woman in a yellow gown with a red rose above her, and the right shows a pink and blue castle under a lilac rose, both with a glassy, leaded look. The bold colour, dark outlines and framed composition give the pair a cohesive stained glass effect.

Pull your coats in, the lamps are lit along the canal and the rain has found the gutters again. I'll tell you about the glazier on Tallow Lane, who had a shop with a green door and a window full of leaded glass that nobody in the city could afford.

Her name was Mercy Quill, and she worked by the light of a paraffin lamp, cutting coloured glass with a diamond and binding each piece in lead like a seamstress with a stubborn hem. A merchant from the hill came down one wet November and ordered a pair of panels for his wife's birthday. He wanted a castle on the crag above the river, every tower of it, and a woman in a yellow gown bending over a rose. He paid in advance, which should have warned her.
She built the castle first, in pink and cold blue, then the lady. The gown took her three weeks. Each night she laid the pieces out on the bench, and each morning the lady's face had moved a little toward the window, as though she were searching the street for someone. Mercy swore at the glass and reset it. On the last night the rose burned so red that the cobbles outside turned the colour of wine, and a knock came at the green door.
It was the merchant's wife, who had walked down the hill alone in her nightdress. She stood in the shop and looked at the panels for a long time. Then she said, "Leave the lady unfinished. She is still waiting to be let out of the frame." Mercy never did finish that face. You can still see it some nights, if you stand on Tallow Lane when the lamps are low and the window catches the light.
