Boba Fett style helmet on upper arm

Realism · Upper arm · Colour · Photo

A helmet in the style of a Mandalorian bounty hunter fills the upper arm, shown from the side with its dome towards the top of the shoulder. The painted shading gives the metal a worn, scratched look, with yellowish highlights on the dome and red armour plates below. Green and grey tones run across the lower edge and the dark outline, and the photo is taken outdoors against a wooden fence.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

The keeper's wife had counted the boats in and the boats out for thirty years, and the sea had never given her anything she did not ask for. So when the storm dropped a dented helmet on the shingle below the Skerry light, she called it rubbish and went back up the steps with the lamp oil.

Her husband, Tam Greig, went down anyway. The thing was the colour of a pot left too long on the stove, green-grey where the salt had got into it and red on the plates along the neck where someone had once bothered to paint it. Three long scratches ran across the dome like the marks a cat leaves on a door. He turned it over and found a cold weight inside and a smell of oil and burnt metal, and he carried it up the hill against his chest like a child.

That night the light went out at midnight. Tam climbed to the lamp room with a match and found the mantle whole and the glass clean, with no reason on God's earth for the dark. Then something moved on the gallery rail: a figure in red plate, standing where no one had any business to stand, looking out at the water as if it owed him money. It spoke once, plainly. "Where is my helmet?"

Tam said it was on the kitchen table. The figure did not thank him. It only lifted one hand, and the light came back on. In the morning the helmet was gone from the table, and there was a single fish scale on the dresser, bright as a coin.
