Cat face tattoo on the inner wrist

Forearm · Mixed · Photo

A small tattoo of a black and white cat's face sits on the inner wrist, with black outlines, yellow eyes and a pink nose. Soft shading gives the fur a simple, illustrated look. A sleeping black and white cat lies alongside the arm in warm sunlight, with its paw resting across the wrist.

Last Tuesday the fog came down off the point so thick we could not see the bow rail. Harold had the wheel and I had the lantern, and I swear Tansy sat on the gunwale for an hour, staring at the water to starboard. I told her to come in out of the wet. She would not move until the bell buoy clanged out where she was looking, and then she was down the hatch like a shot from a gun.

We steered for the sound of that bell, I suppose, though that is not the point. The point is that the rocks were exactly where she had been staring.

I have been thinking about what you said at Christmas, that I ought to stop keeping a ship's cat in a town full of cats. You can tell the Pendarves girl that I now know a fair bit about cats, and that this one has earned her pilchards every morning until the day she decides otherwise. Your loving sister, Ada
