Simple line cat tattoo on a forearm
Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A small, simple cartoon cat is outlined in black ink on the inner forearm, with a few light grey shaded areas along the body and face. The tattoo is shown beside a real tabby cat whose paw rests across the arm, and the background is a soft, slightly muted light-toned fabric.

The cat came to Mrs Pargeter's kitchen the winter the mill closed, and nobody in Tolbridge could agree on whose it was. It was a grey tabby with a squashed face and a habit of sitting on whatever you were trying to read. The baker said it belonged to the Harcourt twins. One Tuesday it walked into the post office with a blue ribbon round its middle and sat on the scales until Mr Dunn gave up weighing parcels and wrote the cat's name in his ledger instead. He called it Biscuit. Biscuit did not come when called, but it came when the kettle was boiled, and that was close enough for the village. It learned the way to the bus shelter, the way to the church hall during bingo, and the exact step on the stairs that meant Mrs Pargeter had gone to sleep with her glasses on.
When the spring fair came, the Harcourt twins quarrelled over who would carry it home. Biscuit settled the matter by climbing into the tombola drum and refusing to come out until somebody won it. The prize was a bag of sugared almonds and a jar of marmalade. The winner, a ferryman's widow called Edie Goss, said she would take the cat as well, since the cat had clearly picked her.
That autumn, Mrs Pargeter found an empty saucer by the stove and a grey hair on her good cardigan. She put the kettle on anyway, and the cat, three gardens away, lifted its head and came.
