Cat silhouette tattoo on the nape
Fine line · Neck · Black and grey · Photo
A small black cat silhouette sits at the base of the neck, drawn in thin, even linework with no shading. The woman's back is turned to the camera, her hair is loosely pinned up, and a tabby cat rests on her left shoulder. The soft-toned striped background and knitted jumper keep the focus on the tattoo.

When the hull split near Ganymede, the air went thin and the lights turned amber, and the crew scattered into the spine of the ship. Oswin did not scatter. He walked the corridors with his tail up like a question mark, and wherever he sat down, somebody found a pocket of air that had been hiding. Juno Pell, who ran the galley, swore he sat on the seal of the oxygen store for six hours before anyone thought to look under him. Nobody ever found the leak on that deck. They fixed it anyway, and blamed the cat for being right.
When the rescue tug finally docked, the captain asked how a creature so lazy had known where to sit. Juno only shrugged and said the cat had simply chosen the warmest place, which was always the place where something was broken and needed holding down. Oswin, asleep on a stack of ration crates, opened one eye and gave her the look he gave everyone.
