Chained cartoon teapot on a calf
Calf · Colour · Photo
A cartoon teapot with a scowling face and a shaded grey beard-like area sits at the centre of the design, with a gold chain wrapped around its base and a gold padlock hanging at the bottom. The bold outlines and simple shading give the teapot a glossy, cel-style look, with a blue rim and blue accents around the base. The tattoo is photographed straight on against pale skin, with the design filling most of the frame.

Dear Joan,

You will not believe what Ted Pargeter did with the urn at the Harvest Supper. We were all under the Bramley trees, wasps drunk on windfalls, and Dennis, the big grey teapot, was whistling through the vicar's grace again. Ted marched over with the bicycle chain from his shed, wound it twice round the spout and the handle, and snapped a brass padlock through the lot. Dennis just sat there glaring at us with that beard of his, as if we were the ones being punished.
Then the key went missing. Ted swore it was in his waistcoat, then in the cider press, then down the well, and by four o'clock the Reverend was offering prayers for a locksmith in Maidstone. Meanwhile the tea went cold in the church hall and the children started a petition. Little Imogen Scott climbed the tallest tree to look for the key and came down with a wasp in her hair and a grin, because she'd spotted it dangling from a bough, where a jackdaw had been carrying it about since lunch.
Ted unlocked the chain at the gatepost and Dennis puffed a little steam, rather pleased with himself, I thought. We poured him full and carried him in for the second sitting. Nobody has dared lock him up since, and he has whistled through every service since, Joan, twice as loud.
Love, Margaret
