Black fine line cursive script tattoo running down the outer upper arm of a person whose back and shoulder are also visible.

Cursive script tattoo on upper arm

Lettering · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo

A close view of a person's back and upper arm, with a black halter-neck top on the left. A thin black cursive script line runs down the outer upper arm, with the words too small and soft to read clearly at this size. The ink is a single dark tone on warm skin, set against a blurred pale background.

The man beside me is selling tea from a flask to anyone who will look at him. He says the boat leaves at six, same as it did yesterday. I am not going to Bordeaux after all. I have decided the house can wait until spring, and the flat can go to whoever wants it. What I want is to see the sea from the wrong side, the way you did when you were small and insisted the lighthouse was walking away from us.

Keep the coat I left on the hook. The lining is torn but it is warm. If the boat goes tonight I will write from the other side, and if it doesn't, you will know I stayed to finish the line about the lighthouse, the one I could never get to sit straight on the page.
