Daisy paw print on a thigh
Botanical · Thigh · Mixed · Photo
A paw print tattoo made of four toe pads and a larger main pad, with white daisies and green leaves set within black swirling linework. Fine outlines and small dots fill the swirls, and the leaves and centres use soft green and yellow shading. The design sits centrally on the outer thigh against plain skin with a small amount of background visible.

Sit down, sit down, the kettle's only just gone off. You'll have heard the tale of Bramble, the collie that belonged to the Pryce girls up at Long Medley? No? Then listen, because it's the only true thing I know about daisies.

Bramble went down to the water meadow every morning before the milk cart, and his feet left prints in the dew. Where a pad touched the cold ground, a daisy came up, first one toe, then another, until the meadow had a path of white and green all the way to the willows. The Pryce girls wanted to pick a bunch for their mother's birthday, but Bramble lay down across the path every time with his chin on his paws, and they never managed it.
That winter the river rose higher than anyone could remember. The meadow went under, and the girls walked out at dusk with lanterns, calling for him until their voices gave out. Bramble came splashing up ahead of them, leaving prints in the black mud, and the daisies that had been pressed flat under the floodwater lifted their heads wherever those prints went. The girls followed the little white path to the dry ridge, and the lanterns found them there, all four safe and soaked to the bone.
Every spring the daisies still come up on that bank in the shape of a paw, four toes and a big pad in the middle. If you pick one, Mrs Pryce will box your ears. Bramble has been gone forty years now, and I still walk round them.
