Dreamcatcher with feathers and the word Dream
Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A dreamcatcher with a crescent moon hangs above two long feathers, with small birds drifting away from the feather tips. The word Dream is written in flowing script to the right of the moon. The piece uses fine black linework with soft grey shading in the feathers and web, set against a sepia-toned photograph of the wrist and forearm.

Gideon's cough is no better. The doctor from Consett says it's the damp in the lamp room and to keep him off the night shift, but you know how he is about being told.
I've been dreaming of you going down the shaft in the wrong order, with your boots on the wrong feet and the cage stopping short. I wake with my hand on the cold side of the bed and then remember you're on the back shift until Friday. So I have written the word on this card in my best hand, DREAM, the way you chalked it on the wall of the pithead baths when we were courting, and I want you to read it as an instruction.
Leave the window of the lodging house open an inch. The birds will find their way down to your side of the bed, and they'll go on wherever it is you need them to go, and then they'll come back to me with the news. Your loving wife, Nell. P.S. Mind the roof at the north face. Mr Carr says the props are sweating.
