Garage and motorcycle scene on upper arm
Upper arm · Mixed · Photo
The tattoo shows a wooden garage with a round sign above the open doorway and a teal classic car inside. Below, a motorcycle with a rider and a rear box sits among tyres, tools, an oil can and a route sign. The linework is bold and illustrative with soft grey shading, and the muted teal, brown and red tones sit on the lower and middle parts of the scene.

Nobody in Carrow Flats had seen the coupe move since the summer Walt Dacey rode out on the touring bike, but on the Tuesday Ada Pruitt backed her tractor into the barn doors, the whole front wall came down in a sheet of grey dust, and there it sat, teal as pond water, with thirty years of dirt on the windscreen.

Dell Dacey wiped the glass with his sleeve and said nothing for a long while. Then he sent the Halloran boy to the shelf for the oil can with the dented spout, because it was the only can Walt would let anyone else touch. "He'll want the tyres checked," Dell said. "He always checked the tyres." The boy asked who he meant. Dell pointed at the route sign nailed to the post by the yard gate, its arrow faded almost to white, and said, "Walt. Went that way to the coast with his tools strapped in the box on the back of the bike. Said he'd send for the car once he'd found somewhere worth stopping."
They worked through the afternoon: new plugs, two tyres from the stack behind the shed, the round enamel sign above the doors polished until BILL'S shone, though nobody had called the place that in years. At dusk Dell pulled the car out into the lane, and the engine caught on the third try, rough and then steady.
He drove it as far as the crossroads, stopped, and read the arrow again. Then he turned the wheel toward the coast road and left the oil can on the step with its lid off, so anyone following would know which way he had gone.
