Gold bride tribe temporary tattoos on wrists

Lettering · Forearm · Colour · Photo

Three hands are raised with pink painted nails, and each wrist carries a metallic gold foil design reading bride tribe in loose brush script. The lettering has a textured, slightly broken edge typical of foil transfers, with the strokes varying in thickness. The warm gold stands out against the pale skin, the bright blue sky and the sand behind the hands.

They got the photograph on the pier at four, the light low and orange, the three of them holding their arms up like they had won something. Ruth's version read bride tribe the right way round. Ada's had slid sideways and looked like a ransom note. Marguerite's had gone entirely, leaving only a faint gold ghost along the vein, which she said was more elegant and nobody argued because it was getting cold.

Imogen arrived at the chip shop at half six with her dress over one arm and her mother's car keys still in her fist. She took the photograph from Ada's phone without a word, zoomed in on the wrists, and laughed so hard she had to sit down on an upturned crate. Then she held out her own arm, and there on the inside of it, half rubbed away by the car seatbelt, was the last clear letter of tribe, the one none of them had managed to keep.
