Gold metallic temporary tattoo reading Best Day Ever in script lettering on the inner wrist and forearm.

Gold "Best Day Ever" lettering on a wrist

Lettering · Forearm · Colour · Photo

A hand with purple nail polish is shown from the wrist up, with a gold metallic lettering design reading Best Day Ever in a flowing script on the inner wrist. The design appears to be a temporary transfer rather than ink, with a glittery, slightly textured finish. The white background is decorated with gold confetti and a ring, and the soft, even lighting keeps the lettering sharp.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

Nell had been kneeling on the stern of the Marigold since first light, tapping gold leaf onto the name board with a squirrel-hair brush, when the lock-keeper's boy came running along the towpath with a paper bag of sugared almonds. "Mam says you're to come for your tea," he said, then squinted at the board. "Why's it say best day ever? It's only Tuesday."

She sat back on her heels and looked at the words she had laid out in a flowing script. The size had gone tacky in the damp, so she'd had to work quickly, breathing out slowly the way her grandfather taught her so the leaf wouldn't lift. "Mr Greave asked for it," she said. "His daughter is marrying on Saturday, and they're taking the boat up to Hemingford for the reception. He wants every guest who steps aboard to read something cheerful before they sit down."

The boy hopped onto the gunwale and ran a finger near the edge of a letter without touching it. "Does it come off?" he asked. "My mam's wedding ring has a bit of gold that rubs off on her neck."

"Not for a good while," Nell said, dusting the brush against her apron. Behind them, a few drops of rain pocked the brown water, and she watched the first light catch the letters and throw small sparks across the towpath, like the confetti the bride's cousins had been scattering on the lock gates all week. The boy grabbed an almond and bit into it. Nell let the rain come, because the gold would hold, and she had still got the thing done before the weather.
