Hello Kitty dressed as a wizard
Other · Mixed · Photo
A cartoon Hello Kitty character sits with a pink bow, round glasses and a lightning bolt mark on the forehead, dressed in a navy school uniform with a striped tie and a crest. She holds a wand in one hand, and the design is drawn with thick, uniform black outlines. The main colours are pink, navy and yellow, with small yellow sparkles at the top right, set against pale skin.

The wand had come back from the repair shop with a new crack running down its middle, and Tilly Marrow was determined that nobody at Ashgrove House would notice before the Michaelmas feast. She tucked it into the pocket of her navy blazer, pushed her round spectacles back up her nose with one white paw, and marched down the east corridor past the portraits, who were muttering.

Osric Vane was waiting at the foot of the stairs, a ferret in a waistcoat the colour of old custard, and he looked at the lightning bolt on her forehead like a stain. "Is that a scar," he said, "or did you draw it on with felt tip?" Tilly did not answer. She drew the wand, pointed it at the crack, and said the mending charm she had practised all summer. The wand gave a cough. A spray of yellow sparks fizzed out of the tip and drifted up past the stair rail, glittering like tinsel, and Osric sneezed so hard his waistcoat buttons popped.
At the feast the wand behaved itself for exactly one course. Then, when the pudding trolley came rattling in, Tilly flicked it once to stop the trolley's wheel squeaking, and the whole trolley rose two feet into the air and hung there, trembling, with a treacle tart still sliding gently across its top. Nobody clapped. Professor Mollow looked over the top of his half-moon glasses for a long, quiet moment, and then, to everyone's astonishment, he laughed until he had to wipe his eyes on the tablecloth.
Afterwards, Tilly found a small mouse sobbing behind the bins by the kitchen door, her first-year badge crooked and her wand snapped in two. Tilly sat down beside her, took the two halves, and pressed them together with treacle from her pocket. "Hold it like this," she said, and handed back a wand that still had its crack, but when the mouse waved it, one bright, perfectly shaped star went up over the bins.
