Zombie Hello Kitty tattoo on a forearm

Neo-trad · Forearm · Colour · Photo

A zombie version of the Hello Kitty character, with pale green skin, a red bow, a black eye and small red wounds across the body and arms. The image has thick black outlines and flat, bold colour fills with some softer shading on the pink belly area. The tattoo fills most of the frame against a dark background on the forearm.

Listen close, for the lamplighters are going home and the canal has ears. Down by the lock at Hackney Wick there lived a little white cat with no mouth and a red bow the size of a letter, who sold bread from a barrow to the night shift. Everyone loved her. The bow was the first thing you saw and the last thing you forgot.

Then the fever came up off the river the autumn the mills shut. Folk went grey, then green, then quiet, and the cat went under with the rest and was carted out to the pauper ground before anyone thought to check her pulse. She did not stay under. Three nights later the sexton's boy saw a pale green shape walking the towpath, its bow still crisp, one stitched ear hanging loose, a heel of tuppence bread caught in its paw and rust-red smudges on its belly like jam left out too long.

She went from door to door, not for brains but for her barrow. She wanted her round back. The lamplighter, who had never once paid her for the bread, saw her coming over the bridge with the lantern swinging from her paw and understood, too late, that a debt can outlive the one who owed it. He emptied his pockets into her palm, every penny he had ever kept back, and she tipped her bow to him and walked down into the black water.

They say you can still see her on wet nights, a green glimmer under the lock gates, bow bright as a cherry. Mind your change when you cross the bridge. Nobody here has ever been short-changed by a cat, and nobody means to start.
