Black and grey infinity symbol tattoo with a shaded feather and the script words Faith and Love on the inner forearm.

Infinity feather with Faith and Love on a forearm

Realism · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo

An infinity symbol forms the base of this tattoo, with a shaded feather running along its length. The word Faith is written in script on the left loop and Love in script on the right, both in fine black linework. The feather uses soft grey shading and dark edges to create depth, and the image is taken close up with the arm filling the frame against a dark background.

Her brother had never been a man for paper, so when she turned it over and saw his hand stretching the words across the back, she sat down on an upturned crate and read it twice before the wind could take it.

He did not write about the ship. He never did. Between the lines of the heron and the rhubarb was a small, careful drawing of a feather, the barbs sketched in pencil so fine she could count them with her thumbnail.

She found the old garden book in the tin too, and pressed the feather between its pages where the tulips were listed for autumn planting. Then she walked out past the bean poles to the ditch, where the heron was not, and stood at the edge of the water until the light went flat and grey, waiting for it to come back.
