Letter tattoos across fingers with stiletto nails
Lettering · Hand · Black and grey · Photo
Black ink capital letters, in a serif style, run across the fingers of a hand, with some letters partly hidden by the curve of the fingers. The nails are long, pointed stilettos in a pale nude polish, each edged with clusters of small pink and clear rhinestones. The image is a close, well-lit shot against a white textured background, with the ink and nails in sharp focus.

The frost had split the old sign over Pell's Bakery straight down the middle, and Mrs Pell wanted new letters up before the Saturday queue reached the corner of the high street.

Her father had taught her that a capital A must stand on its feet like a man waiting for a bus, and that the K should never look as if it was apologising. She painted the first letters in lamp black, slow and even, while the sea wind rattled the shutter behind her and a gull walked the gutter as though it held the lease.
Mrs Pell watched from the doorway with a tea towel over one shoulder. "Make the last one curl," she said. "The E. My Ronnie always said it looked like it was about to tell you a secret."
Ruth did not argue. She had sold her own shop in Ramsgate three winters ago, and nobody in Margate asked for anything but a clean line. So she gave the E its little hook at the top and sat back on her stool, paint drying in dark stripes along her fingers. Across the road the bakery lights came on one by one, doubled in the wet pavement, and for the first time in months the name read properly from the far kerb.
