Lion cub design with 'Remember who you are'
Black and grey · Flash
A shaded black and grey drawing of a lion cub's silhouette, with a rounded head, raised front paw and curled tail, sits inside a soft circular halo. The words "Remember who you are." follow the lower curve of the circle in a thin, hand-lettered script. The linework is bold around the figure, with smooth grey gradients giving it depth against a white background.

The cub had been sitting in the shade of the water tank for an hour before Ruth noticed it was not a dog. She stood with the jerrycan dripping at her boot and watched its ribs lift under the pale fur, too quick and too thin. Past the cattle grid the dust road ran white toward Sable Flats, and nothing moved on it but heat.

Her father had sign-written lettering on lorry doors for thirty years, and he liked to say a good sign was one you could read from the far end of a field. The summer she left school he painted the same words on the back of his van, small and curved in the corner where nobody looked first. She had taken it for a joke, the sort of thing a man says to a daughter driving off with no plan. She had not understood it as an instruction until the cub lifted its head and looked at her with the same flat patience.
She drove with it on the passenger seat, wrapped in her fleece, past the broken windmill and the dry pan where birds stood on one leg. At the junction where the road split, she stopped and let the engine tick. Left went to the coast and the work her father had wanted for her. Right went toward the scrub, where the grass stood knee high and the air smelled of rain that had not yet fallen.
She carried the cub to the edge of the grass and set it down. It walked three steps, stopped, and looked back at her once, the way a child does at a school gate. Then it went into the gold stems without a sound. Ruth wiped her hands on her jeans, took the pen from behind her ear, and drew a small curve on the tank's rusted side. She did not need to write anything more.
