Matching infinity wrist tattoos with script

Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo

Two wrists show matching infinity symbol tattoos, each with a small cross set in the loop and a script word, sister on the left and love on the right, with the reference Proverbs 3:15 written in print lettering below. The linework is thin and even in black ink with no shading, sitting on pale skin against a soft, warm background. The two wrists are placed side by side in close framing, so both designs are clearly in view.

The barge still smelled of coal dust, even after twenty years of Dad using it for nothing but weekend picnics, so when Nell climbed aboard at Henley with the tea urn under one arm, you knew she would start on the mooring fees before she had even found the kettle.

You took the bow line while she talked. Dad had taught you both to tie the figure-of-eight loop without looking, the rope running over itself and back again, round and round, the way he said it would hold a boat through any tide the Thames could throw at it. He liked that it never ended. He liked to quote the old family Bible at the mooring too, the page with Proverbs marked in his pencil, something about wisdom being worth more than rubies. Nell said he had underlined it because he wanted the barge to be worth more than the boat yard offered.

She wanted the sale. You wanted the rope. For an hour neither of you said much, just the slap of water against the hull and a heron standing on the lock gate as if it had been paid to watch you both. Then the wind dropped and the stern swung round, and Nell, without a word, passed you the coiled end of the line as she had done when you were nine and frightened of the current.

You tied the loop on the cleat. It held. Nell looked at it for a long while, then at you, and said the buyer could wait until spring. Neither of you mentioned the price again that afternoon.
