Matching sugar skull cat tattoos on thighs
Neo-trad · Thigh · Colour · Photo
Two mirrored tattoos of cat faces wearing bows sit side by side on the upper legs. Each has bold black outlines, soft pink, blue and purple shading on the cheeks, and sugar skull style flowers, hearts and diamonds as decoration. The bright colour fills the design against plain skin, with the fabric edge of a chair visible at the right.

She had painted them on the same pale board, one with a blue ribbon and one with a pink, their cheeks blotted with rose and violet like the skin of a ripe plum. Every flower on their faces came from the same tin of cornflower and marigold paint, and every heart was dotted with the same crooked brush. When she set them on the altar beside the bread and the candles, she told her nephew they were mirrors of each other. He laughed and asked which one was the reflection.
Nobody could answer him. On the night of the dead, with the candles lit and the shutters open, the cats seemed to turn their heads at the same moment, and in the glass of the window the blue one's whiskers crossed the pink one's whiskers. Tomasa swore the pink cat winked. Her nephew swore the blue one blinked first. By morning both boards were dusted with petal and wax, and the window had a hairline crack running straight down between them.
She did not fix the glass. She took a fine brush and painted a small orange diamond exactly where the crack met the sill, then set the cats facing each other across it. Neither has complained since. Which of them is real, she decided, is the sort of thing a cat should be allowed to keep to itself.
