Black and grey realistic drawing of a tiger's face with a direct gaze and detailed whiskers, shown as a tattoo design with no body part visible.

Realistic tiger face drawing

Realism · Black and grey · Flash

A front-facing tiger head fills the frame, with its eyes, nose and whiskers drawn in fine detail. The fur is rendered with dark bold stripes and soft grey shading that gives the face depth and texture. The plain pale background keeps focus on the animal, with no colour used.

The crate came in on the tide two days after the Maud Gillespie went onto the Skerry rocks, and you were the only one on Inchcorran who would go down to it with a crowbar. The timber had split along one side. Inside, the animal lay so still that for a moment you took it for a sack of coal, until the head lifted and the eyes found yours across the wet boards.

Nobody on the island had ever seen a tiger. Mrs Ferrier said it was a sign, the minister said it was a kindness that it hadn't drowned, and the children wanted to call it Duncan. You called it nothing. You carried it mackerel from the harbour and sat on an upturned creel at the mouth of the barn, and every evening it watched you with the same flat patience, as if it were the one keeping the accounts.

In October the fog came in thick and stayed nine days. On the tenth morning the barn door stood open and the straw was cold. Pad marks ran down to the shingle and stopped at the waterline, neat as a signature. You stood there with the bucket still in your hand, and out past the skerry, where the mist was thinning, something striped turned once in the swell and was gone.

That evening the creel was turned the right way up, and on the boards where the animal had lain there was a single damp print, pressed deep, as if it had stepped off somewhere and decided to leave the ground to you. You still set the bucket out at dusk. Some mornings the fish is gone, and you tell yourself it was the gulls.
